M. Kane, 77, of South Range, WI, formerly of Oakes, ND, died on August 23, 2013, with family by his side.

Duaine Michael, son of Mike and Vera (Knowlton) Kane was born December 24, 1935 at Colburn, Wisconsin, where he grew up and attended school. Duaine served his country in the U.S. Navy, retiring as a Chief Petty Officer after 20 years of service. He married Mary Patricia “Pat” Collins on November 9, 1973 at Coronato, California. Pat died on April 20, 2004.

After her death, Duaine continued to live in Oakes for a few years, before moving to Wisconsin to be closer to his family. Duaine is preceded in death by his parents, a brother Joseph, his wife, Patricia, and a younger brother Tommy.

He is survived by his siblings, Gene (Doris) Kane, Bonnie Reinke, LeRoy Audorff, Roger (Debbie) Audorff, Everett Kane, Marcella Kane, and Patricia Kane. Duaine is also survived by his children’s mother, LaVaun Miller; his children, Barb Carlson, Max (Pat) Kane, Cherry (Craig) Golembiewski, Doreen (Steve) Brorby, Doraine (Mark) Briggs, and Michael (Starrie) Kane; and numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.

A graveside service with military honors will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the Oakes View Cemetery, Veteran Section, for anyone who would like to attend.

His family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at Starion Financial and Dahlstrom Funeral Home of Oakes, and a very special thank-you to all those who took care of Duaine.
