FORKS, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Some parents say the heat is a sign school should start after Labor Day in North Dakota. Grand Forks schools let students out early yesterday and will do so again today because of the high temps.

Only five out of the districts’ 18 schools are fully air conditioned. Parent Tina Randle applauds the district’s decision.

By early afternoon yesterday, temperatures in some classrooms ranged from 83 to 94 degrees. A group of North Dakota parents are working to submit an initiative to put a later school start on the November 2014 ballot.
