(NewsDakota.com) Yesterday the Cardinals played a makeup game against the Raiders of Lakota/Edmore, the game was suppose to be played on Monday of this week, but due to poor weather conditions the game was moved to Wednesday. It’s the ninth time this year that the Cardinals have had a game either postponed or cancelled due to poor weather conditions. Carrington won 9-1 and improve to 13-6 overall and 7-3 in Region 3, the Raiders drop to 2-7 overall also 2-7 in Region 3.
Both teams would score in the first inning, but Carrington went on to score eight more runs to help secure the victory. Freshman Braxton Hewitt picked up the victory going all seven innings allowing just one run on three hits and two strikeouts. Catcher Easton Paeper was 2 for 4 at the plate with an RBI double in the top of the first inning. Right Fielder Jake Edland drove in two runs as well.
Next up for Carrington will be the Region 3 Tourney in Carrington starting Monday, May 19th, continuing on Tuesday and Thursday. All games will be broadcast on AM 1600 KDAK and newsdakota.com.
The Region 3 bracket will be released later on tonight as Sheyenne/New Rockford still needs to play Midkota, which will happen today in Binford. The Mustangs are 9-0 in the region and have secured the Region 3 championship, but today’s game will setup the seedings for Carrington and Sheyenne/New Rockford. If the Blacksox win, they will be the two seed for next weeks tourney. If Midkota wins, Carrington and Sheyenne/New Rockford will both have 7-3 records in the region, but Carrington would get the two seed as they have the point spread.
