S.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jimmies went on the road and picked up their second victory of the season with a 37-29 win over Dakota State. The University of Jamestown football was in dire need of a win to kick-off the second half of their season.

Jamestown stuck first in the game jumping out to a 10-0 lead. They took their opening possession down for a field goal, it was the first of three for Grant Linde who tied a school record with three made kicks in a game.

The first touchdown came later in the first quarter, when Beau Eriksson hit Dez Pettigrew for a 67-yard touchdown. Dakota State kicked a second quarter field goal to make it 10-3.

The first batch of fireworks came in the third quarter when the teams combined for 29 points; the Jimmies outscored the Trojans 17-12 to increase their lead. Jamestown scored on all three of their drives, a six-yard touchdown catch by Gavin Farley, a nine-yard run by Eriksson and a field goal by Linde.

Late in the fourth quarter, the Jimmies held a 30-22 lead and were struggling to run the clock out with the run game. Rather than continue to keep the ball on the ground, offensive coordinator Josh Kittel dialed up a deep ball. Eriksson hit Mike Sena for a 57-yard touchdown.

The Trojans had one more push when back-up LB Ramel Dyer returned the ensuing kickoff back to the 14-yard line and Dakota State scored on the next play. The Jimmies successfully ran out the clock on the next possession after being aided by a roughing the punter penalty.

The Jimmies are now 2-4 and will host Mayville State on Saturday at Rollie Greeno Field.
