funeral service for William “Bill” Olson, 75, Valley City, ND will be 10:30 am, Monday, January 5, 2015 at Oliver-Nathan Funeral Chapel, Valley City, with Rev. Randall Schlecht officiating.  Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, rural Valley City.  He died Friday, January 2, at the Sheyenne Care Center, Valley City.

Visitation will be one hour before the service at the funeral chapel.

William D. Olson was born on January 26, 1939 at Mercy Hospital in Valley City.  Bill was the son of Ben and Marge (Adcock) Olson.  He graduated from Fargo Central High School in 1957.  After graduating from high school, he attended wildlife management courses at Montana State in Bozeman, Montana.  In 1959, Bill had the opportunity to take over his grandfather’s farm.  Bill was a very successful farmer and purchased another farm.  He farmed for about 25 years.  He then cash rented all of his land and invested in property in the Phoenix, AZ area.  During the summer of his retirement years, Bill was a fishing guide on Leech Lake in Minnesota.  He also hunted around the US, Canada and Alaska.  In the winter months he spent time in Arizona.

He is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Dick and Coleen Olson, Bismarck, ND; one nephew, Rodney (LeAnn) Olson, Mandan, ND; and two nieces, Beth (Paul) Borg, Rochester, MN; and Susan Pfaff, Jamestown, ND.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, James.
