N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Dickey County Emergency Manager Charlie Russell announced the extension of Governor Jack Dalrymple’s Statewide Fire Emergency and Burn Ban through May 8th.

Dalrymple has said the state’s county commissioners should assess their coutnies’ fire threat and be prepared to authorize county burn bans. In the executive order, Dalrymple states that areas in North Dakota that are designated a “High”, “Very High,” or “Extreme” index rating or when a Red Flag Warning is issued that burning be prohibited. Burning will only be allowed with a “Low” or “Moderate” index only if approved by a local fire response authority.

The Burn Ban was first issued on April 1st in response to dry conditions, unseasonably high temperatures and high winds allowing that promote rapid fire spread.
