N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Purple has been the signature color of the American Cancer Society Relay for Life program and on Friday, May 1st, Jamestown will be seeing a lot of it.

“Paint Our Town Purple” is a chance to raise awareness of the event in Jamestown. 2015 marks the 30th anniversary since the Relay for Life event was founded by Dr. Gordy Klatt. The Jamestown Downtown association will be accepting help to put up purple-themed displays in storefronts, swapping light bulbs with purple ones, and selecting a day for everyone to wear purple at work or school.

The pre-celebration will be held at the buffalo on May 1st at 5:30 PM where they will ‘paint the buffalo purple’. Jamestown’s Relay for Life will be held June 5th this year. You can email Barb Togstad at btogstad@nd.gov for more information.
