CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – On September 13th, Valley City Police Officer Major Hopp observed and verified a passenger wanted on an existing Warrant of Arrest and attempted to stop the truck.

According to the report, Officer Hopp attempted to approach the vehicle when 37 year-old Shelton Ard exited the truck and ran through a field in the 1100 block of 5th Avenue Northeast. Officers Hopp and Horner gave chase and issued commands for Ard to stop, eventually overtaking Aard into custody without incident.

With Ard in custody, his path was retraced by officials who found three plastic bags containing what is believed to be marijuana. During the booking process Ard was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver, Possession of a Controlled Substance and Fleeing on Foot, as well as his outstanding Warrant of Arrest for failing to pay child support.
