N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The original, local Homeless Coalition once only covered Jamestown and portions of Stutsman County. But, now the coalition has revised and expanded their services.

Interim President of the Homeless Coalition Jerry Bergquist stated that the coalition, created in 2005, has now expanded to include the surrounding counties.

Bergquist pointed out that the revision expands to mirror the reach of the South Central Regional Council.

Homelessness and the definition of homelessness have become an issue in Stutsman and the mentioned surrounding counties. Bergquist stated that the coalition’s job was to bring organizations together to help pool resources and funds to alleviate homelessness. He stated that building a homeless shelter should be a last resort.

Bergquist stated that it was necessarily funds that were needed to assist the issue, but just a cohesive group to combat it.
