LOOKOUT, MO. (NewsDakota.com) – Valley City State University erased a 15 point deficit in their 65-64 win over Tennessee Wesleyan College in the first round of the NAIA Division II Men’s Basketball National Championship. 

Ellwood Ellenson gave VCSU the lead for good, with two made free-throws with 1.9 seconds left in the game inside Keeter Gymnasium.

The Vikings (22-10 overall) were paced by Darryl Howell with 21 points, while Jayden Ferguson chipped in 14 points. Ferguson has scored 1,000 career points so far for the Vikings. 

Devante’ Jenkins and Leland Robinson each scored 19 points for Tennessee Wesleyan College (28-4 overall). 

The Vikings advance to the 2nd round tomorrow afternoon at 1:45 p.m. against the winner of Taber vs. IU East.
