(NewsDakota.com)—-The University of Jamestown women’s basketball team outscored the visiting Mayville State University Comets 27-13 in the opening quarter and never looked back in a 92-47 route of the Comets. The Jimmies picked up there 25th consecutive North Star Athletic Association Conference victory with the win and improved to 10-2 overall (5-0 NSAA).
Kyra Dewald paced the Jimmy offense with 19 points, 17 of those coming in the second and third quarters, including 3 of the 11 3-pointers made by the Jimmies. The Jimmies dressed 13 players and all 13 put points on the board. Dewald added 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals. Taylor Hammer, Bryn Woodside, and Allison Jablonsky all added 12 points, and Jory Mullen chipped in 9 points in the game. Woodside added a game high 7 assists.
The Jimmies defense was arguably the story of the game, forcing the Comets into 26 turnovers in the contest. Pressure defense applied by Dewald, Woodside, and McKayla Orr dictated the tempo of the entire game. The Comets finished the game shooting 31 percent from the field, making 13 0f 42 total field goal attempts. Orr also finished the game with 5 rebounds and 3 assists.
The Comets were paced by Andi Gayner’s 17 points and Claire Blascziek’s 13. The Comets dropped there overall record to 4-6 (1-3 NSAA).
The Lady Jimmies will travel to Morningside on December 29th for there next action.
