N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The North Dakota Game & Fish Department is preparing for the annual early resident waterfowl season to begin this Saturday.

The season kicks off following the opener of the youth deer and youth waterfowl season openers earlier this year and comes before the regular waterfowl season. Game & Fish Biologist Doug Leier reports that the duck numbers look good for the season.

The regular waterfowl season will commence a week after on September 30th in North Dakota. Leier says because of the drought, it might change the landscape a little bit for the hunters this year.

With the season, Leier says safety should also be at the forefront of every hunter’s mind.
