N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Battle of the Badges continues today and Saturday at the Jamestown Civic Center in the Exchequer Room.

The 3rd Annual Battle of the Badges is a competition between the Jamestown Fire Department and Jamestown Police Department to see who could collect the most votes through United Blood Services.

Donor Recruitment Representative Weldon Roberts is with United Blood Services.

Jamestown Fire Chief Jim Reuther was pretty competitive on the first day of the friendly competition.

Police Chief Scott Edinger estimated that they were pretty close on Thursday. Even though there will be a loser in the competition, Chief Edinger says the main goal is to raise blood donations.

United Blood Service estimates that roughly 5% percent of the US population donates blood, but nearly 90% of the population requires donated blood. They estimated that roughly 60% of the population has the ability to donate.

The first 250 donors will receive a free t-shirt. Call 800–917-4929 for more information or to make an appointment.
