JAMESTOWN, N.D. (JimmieAthletics.com) – The 13th-ranked Dickinson State (N.D.) University Blue Hawks scored three first-quarter touchdowns and never looked back, defeating the University of Jamestown 51-0 Saturday afternoon at Henry Biesiot Activities Center.
Following a 2-yard touchdown run by Nick Miller, DSU quarterback Hayden Gibson threw scoring passes of 65 yards to Randy Ivey and 59 yards to Jarett Lee to stake the home team to a 21-0 lead.
After their first five possessions ended with a punt, Jamestown had its best scoring chance midway through the second quarter, but Jordan Mann (JR/Bismarck, N.D.) was picked off by Cain Boschee at the one-yard line to halt the threat.
The third quarter was similar to the first for DSU. Amad Andrews opened the scoring with a 7-yard run, then Gibson tossed his third and fourth touchdowns of the day to push the lead to 42-0.
The Jimmies conceded a safety and allowed another touchdown in the fourth quarter for the final scoring of the game.
Mann was 5-of-20 passing for 65 yards with two interceptions. Jimmy Hatch (JR/Sacramento, Calif.) carried 17 times for 68 yards.
Gibson finished 10-of-16 for 257 yards and four scores. Andrews led the Blue Hawks with 61 yards on 11 carries.
Jamestown (1-1) returns home to host No. 7 Northwestern (Iowa) next Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
