VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Valley City Hi-Liner wrestling team came away with a 54-23 win over Fargo North Tuesday night at the SpartanDome.

After winning the first three weight classes by forfeits, the first bout of the night came at 126 when Bennett Rogelstad. who is ranked sixth at 120, faced off with Danny Monatukwa. Monatukwa is ranked third at 126. Monatukwa lead 5-0 after the first period. After a takedown by Rogelstad at 1:15 of the second period the lead was cut to 5-2. Then Monatukwa came away with an escape and a takedown to open up a 8-2 lead on the way to a 13-2 win to make the team score 18-4.

Espen Kunze won by forfeit to make it 24-4. Austin Rogelstad won at 138 with a fall at 1:58 to make it 30-4 Valley City.

At 145, Evan Mielke won by fall at :28 into the second period. At 152, Tyson Hovland faced Joshua Worral, who is ranked sixth in the state at 152. Worral won 12-3 for the major decision to make it 36-8.

The Hi-Liners had forfeits at 160, 170 and 182 to make it 54-8. Fargo North won the last three weights. Junior Surpris 4-1 over Jonah Schuldheisz at 195. Braden Jongeward over Jonathan Redfearn with a fall at 1:42. Andrew Aamold pinned Austin Hearlson at :33 to make the final 54-23.

Valley City improves t0 2-0 overall and in the EDC. North falls to 1-1 overall and in the EDC. The Hi-Liners will be at the Knights of Columbus Tournament in Jamestown this weekend.
