JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A winter storm warning has been issued by the National Weather Service for Stutsman, Kidder, Logan, and LaMoure counties Sunday.

In an alert sent by Stutsman County via the Everbridge Emergency Notification System, the storm expected to hit the area will bring with it heavy snow with accumulations of 5 to 8 inches expected.

“Travel will be very difficult,” the NWS states. “Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The cold wind chills as low as 20 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.”

Snow accumulations are also expected in other parts of the state including between 4 to 6 inches in Valley City, 3 to 4 inches in Ashley, and around 4 inches in Carrington.

The winter storm warning remains in effect until 3 AM Monday morning.
