VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – In November of 2019, the Barnes Rural Water District shut-off water to some 25 residential homes in Lee’s Subdivision after crews responded to several waterline breaks caused by hill slides.

A few families have been displaced. They expressed their concerns during a public termination hearing on Tuesday night in Valley City. Doug Okland is one of the residents living in Lee’s Subdivision.

Barnes County Rural Water District board president Chris Kvilvang said following the testimony the issue will be tabled. He said the board is willing to look at other options before making a final decision.

A representative from Interstate Engineering showed photos and drone recordings of fault lines or hill slides that occurred in Lee’s Subdivision along Lake Ashtabula in 2019.
