JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Generous donations for a new ladder truck for the Jamestown Fire Department and City of Jamestown have continued to roll in.

But one donation from a 6 year-old boy might mean the most.

Asher Wiest, son of Courtney & Shannon Wiest, asked his mother if they could hold a lemonade stand.

“I entertained the idea for a bit until he told me he wanted to do it to raise money for the Jamestown fire departments new ladder truck,” Courtney says. “With tears in my eyes, I of course said yes.”

One lemonade stand on a breezy Sunday later, and Asher had raised more than $650.

“Shannon and I are honestly still in shock about the turnout and I don’t think it’s really hit Asher the magnitude of what he’s done.”

Asher says he knew why he wanted to raise money for the Fire Department.

Jamestown Fire Chief Jim Reuther was moved by the generosity of young Asher.

Reuther says right now, work continues on the new ladder truck, which could be expected by the fall.
