VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – For the fifth time in the last 10 years, the Fargo Jets are the Senior Babe Ruth State Champions. Saturday they need to win twice over the West Fargo Vets, and they did. Taking the first game 8-3 and the second 14-1 in six innings.

GAME #14 – Fargo Jets 8, West Fargo Vets 3

Calvin Clasen drove in two with a double in the fifth inning, giving the Jets an 3-2 lead. It highlighted a four run fifth that gave the Jets the lead.

The Vets got one back in the bottom of the inning on a ground out by Cullen Pellett to make it 5-3. But that would be as close as they would get.

Fargo added three more in the sixth for the final margin. Dylan Erholtz went the distance for the Jets. He allowed four hits and two earned runs in seven innings. He walked one and struck out 7.

The win forced a winner-take-all second game and the Jets bats picked up where they left off.

 

GAME #15 – Fargo Jets 14, West Fargo Vets 1 F/6

After a scoreless first two innings, Fargo scored four in the third. Mitch Runcorn’s two run double and Calvin Clasen’s rbi triple highlighted the inning.

Matt Heupel’s rbi single in the bottom of the third cut the lead to 3-1. But that would be it for West Fargo’s offence.

The Jets would add a run in the fourth, five in the fifth and four in the sixth.

For Fargo its the fifth state Senior Babe Ruth Championship in ten years. They were runners-up in 2019.
