JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Regional Entrepreneur Center (JREC) has announced a new business opening in Jamestown.

1st Class Skate Experts is a new hockey/figure skating shop founded by Tyson Brouwer. He was inspired to open a shop because of for his love of the game of hockey and the lack of hockey resources in Jamestown.

“I had a talked with Sid Mann, the president and owner of First Class Aviation, and just expressed how I thought Jamestown could possibly benefit from a skate pro shop. [H]e was all for it so I just kind of took off from there,” Brouwer stated.

He’s also no stranger to the game.

“I currently play for the University of Jamestown men’s hockey team and have a lot of background and knowledge in skate sharpening, riveting and skate fitting,” Brouwer added. “Essentially what we are trying to do is provide an excellent customer experience and keep costs low. We are located at the Jamestown Airport and have a skate sharpener, skate rivet machine, heat oven, and will be bringing sticks and have blades and replacement parts on hand.”

Brouwer says they’ll look to complete custom skate orders and other equipment to bring in clothing from different brands for men and women.

“We have secured a deal with Bio Steel, which is a nutrient company that specializes in hydration. We wanted the people of Jamestown to have a local skate shop for all their needs instead of having to drive an hour for these services.”

Brouwer says they’ll hope to provide service to all different skaters from recreational, to competitive and all the way up to college athletes.
