JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – To eliminate stress on the volunteers and animals, the James River Humane Society made the decision to close to the public in 2020.

Since then, the shelter has operated on a appointment only basis to conduct adoptions. Board Member Jay Nitchske says as the pandemic has slowly waned, they’ve made the decision to ramp up their open hours to just Sundays at this time.

Nitschke says those who visit the shelter will see current and ongoing projects from a list they’ve been following for the past two years.

The shelter will open their doors to the public every Sunday from 1 to 3 PM. If you would like to schedule a visit or appointment, you can contact cat manager Sheila at 701-367-6913 or dog manager Kris at 701-269-2803.

Available pets for adoption and ways you can support the shelter can be found at jamesriverhumanesociety.org.
