NAPOLEON – Linton/Hazelton-Moffitt-Braddock and Medina-Pingree/Buchanan won semifinal matches Monday to advance to Tuesday’s championship of the District 2B Volleyball tournament at Napoleon Public School.

Napoleon/Gackle-Streeter will play Edgeley/Kulm/Montpelier and Kidder County will clash with Ellendale on Tuesday for the other spots in next week’s Region 1 tournament.

NGS (10-25) played solidly and took advantage of LLM errors to pull off the upset.
Isabella Kristiansen had six kills, three blocks and an ace for the Imperials. Brooklyn Schneider had five aces as Napoleon/Gackle-Streeter had 11 overall.
LaMoure-Litchville/Marion (17-14), who was swept in both of their matches in this tournament, was limited to 11 kills, four of which were by Jada Smith.

Kidder County (19-15) used consistent attacking and solid serving to advance. Taylor Zimmerman and Riley Sayler each had 13 kills for the Wolves. Gracelin Pfaff served nine of Kidder County’s 14 aces. Zimmerman had four.
Carlene Andre had nine kills for South Border (7-24-1).

The top-seed Lions (32-3-1) basically controlled the match, led by 10 kills and two aces by Macy Hase. Emmrey Baumgartner had nine kills and a block.
Hannah Morehead scored nine kills and Anisten Petersen earned seven for Ellendale (19-12).

Semifinal: (2)Medina-Pingree/Buchanan def. (3)Edgeley/Kulm/Montpelier, 17-25, 20-25, 25-16, 25-21, 15-13
Brynn Sorensen and Destiny Opp combined for 49 kills as MPB (23-6) achieved the reverse sweep to earn a Region 1B tournament spot. Sorensen had 27 and Opp with 22, with each recording six in the deciding fifth set.
Elli Lloyd had 18 kills and 4 aces for EKM (23-10).
