JAMESTOWN – Grace Allmaras scored with 2:50 remaining in the third period Saturday to give Jamestown Blue Jays Girls Hockey a 1-1 tie in their season opener with Aberdeen Central at Wilson Arena.
Olivia Sandvig had scored for Aberdeen Central at 1:22 of the third stanza to give the Golden Eagles a 1-0 lead after Jamestown had killed off three penalties in the second period.
The Blue Jays then had to kill another penalty in the overtime period.
Gabby Kolden set up Allmaras’ tying goal.
Jamestown had a 39-24 shot advantage. In net, Ady Bakalar made 23 saves.
League play will begin for the Blue Jays Tuesday against Fargo Davies at Scheels Arena.
