DEVILS LAKE (NewsDakota)- The Carrington boys basketball team knocked off Griggs-Midkota 53-45 to capture the consolation championship of the 2026 Ramsey County Tournament. Maddox McIlonie scored a game high 20 points and added 14 rebounds to pace the Cardinals victory. Tate Wolsky added ten points (all in the second half) despite limited minutes due to foul trouble in the opening half. Alex Threadgold would add nine points before fouling out late in the contest.
Trace Spickler scored 19 points to lead the Titans in scoring and eight other players combined for the rest of the points (26). The Cards held a slim 41-39 advantage after 3 quarters. The Cards would hold the Titans to six points in the final quarter and the first point scored was a lone free throw from Tristen Zaun with 2:18 to go. The Cards kept the Titans alive with for most the quarter until late with 5-for-6 on free throws down the stretch and a Tate Wolsky basket. The Cards connected on 11-14 free throws for the second straight game good for 73 percent. Griggs-Midkota would go 12-15 from the free throw line.
