FREMONT, NE – Though Jamestown Jimmies ACHA Division 1 Women’s Hockey stayed with their opponent in their postseason opener, the big goal they needed didn’t happen.  In fact, no goal happened at all.

Third seed McKendree edged sixth seed Jamestown 1-0 Thursday in the first round of the Women’s Midwest Collegiate Hockey Tournament at Sidner Ice Arena.

Britney Kambeitz scored the game’s only goal for the Bearcats (19-7-0-1) at 17:15 of the second period.

Jamestown (8-16-1-1) had three power play chances, including one in the third period, but couldn’t break through.

Madelynne Sylvestre made 24 saves in the Jimmie goal.  McKendree outshot Jamestown 25-19.

UJ will play Lindenwood on Friday.
