BISMARCK – There was a lot of offense Thursday for Jamestown Blue Jays Softball, but not enough to prevent a sweep.

Bismarck took two from Jamestown 6-5 and 19-13 at the Sanford Sports Complex’s Starion Bank Softball Field.

Game 1: Bismarck 6, Jamestown 5
Bismarck (9-1, 3-0 WDA) grabbed the lead with a five-run third inning and didn’t relinquish it. A passed ball forced home the go-ahead run, then Laila Nehls capped the rally off with a two-run single.

For Jamestown (5-4, 4-3), Avery Graves hit an RBI double and a sacrifice fly. Kinley Klettke also had two hits. Brooke Jackson hit the Blue Jays’ first home run of the season, a solo homer to left center in the top of the seventh, to cut the Demons’ lead to one run.

Maddie Hoff (3-2) struck out four in six innings.

Game 2: Bismarck 19, Jamestown 13
Jamestown (5-5, 4-4) did have three home runs, including a Sophia Bond grand slam, but also committed four errors. Blue Jays pitching allowed 12 hits, 11 walks and two hit batters.

Shortstop Cameron Braun homered, doubled and drove in six runs for Bismarck (10-1, 4-0).

Graves and Hoff also homered for Jamestown. The Blue Jays had 16 hits and every starter had at least one hit.

Morgan Scott (2-3) had a rough inning and a third in the circle, giving up eight runs, three hits and five walks.

Jamestown will play a doubleheader at Dickinson on Tuesday.
