
JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Jamestown distance runner Meghan Ford picked up more hardware this weekend when she claimed the Nike Heartland Regional championship in Yankton on Sunday. The race consisted of over 250 runners from Kansas, Minnesota, Iowa, Nebraska, South Dakota, Wisconsin and, of course, North Dakota.
She finished over six seconds ahead of second place finisher Kate Sperka of Muskego, WI. Ford finished with a time of 17:19.1, which was over 20 seconds faster than her North Dakota state championship on October 28th.
It was her second consecutive state title in North Dakota.
The win will propel her to the National meet with will take place on December 7th in Portland, Oregon.
