JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Stutsman County Park Board approved to have a subcommittee work on a contract for a proposal to operate Lakeside Marina in 2020 and 2021.
The proposal would be a $1200 annual lease for both seasons with sewage pumping, garbage pickup, and maintenance of fish cleaning station. The new owners would operate the marina as “The Jim.”
Luke Anderson was at the meeting representing the four families who would be operating the site under the proposal.
Anderson says operating the building was important and they wanted to make sure it continued.
When asked if the lease would be annual and if they would operate in the winter, Anderson says it was a “feeling out process.”
In the proposal, the group would be purchasing all kitchen equipment as well as counters, seating options, inventory, and all other necessary equipment to successfully re-open a business in the marina building.
The concessionaires would have daily hours with public access to food, drink, and limited bait, firewood and ice, and updates including painting and countertop replacement.
“We believe this proposal shows good will on both parties’ behalf to re-open an important part of the Jamestown Reservoir experience and look forward to the possibility of working with the county on this joint venture,” the group stated in the proposal.
Board member Jason Hogue stated it was a positive thing to have a proposal for the marina.
He added the board could help with paint and a few other minor things at the building.
The Park Board unanimously approved to move forward with the proposal and have a subcommittee work on drafting up a contract for the group.
