JAMESTOWN – Sixth-ranked Jamestown Jimmies ACHA Division 1 Men’s Hockey stormed to a 4-1 lead Thursday, then held on for a 4-3 victory over 10th-ranked UMary at Wilson Arena.

Brad Fortin scored a goal and an assist for Jamestown (14-10-1-0), who earned a one-goal win for the second straight evening.

Raymond Warrack opened the scoring for UJ with his 11th goal from Carson Brown and Fortin at 12:39 of the first period.  Fortin popped in his 12th, assisted by Guerin Apperley, at 15:48 and the Jimmies were 2-0 after one period.

Alex Senf brought UMary (14-7-0-0) within a goal by scoring at 3:46 of the second period, but Kaelan Shelton answered for Jamestown just 46 seconds later with his third from Malachi Franklin.  At 8:44 in the second, Marcus Fritel scored his fifth for a 4-1 UJ lead, set up by Jacob Thomas and Trey Stephenson.  Hunter Mangan brought the Marauders to 4-2 down at 13:54 in the second.

Isaac Flatley made the difference just one goal with a marker with 15 seconds to play.

Jamestown had 44 shots to UMary’s 37.  Brandon Weare made 34 saves in goal for the Jimmies.

UJ will host North Carolina State on Monday, January 5 at Wilson Arena.
