MANDAN – An early chance for another winning streak didn’t stand for Jamestown Blue Jays Girls Hockey.
Mandan rallied Tuesday to defeat Jamestown 2-1 at the Cadillac Rank of the Starion Sports Complex.
Dakota Swearingen scored a power play goal only 15 seconds into the third period and with only 17 seconds left on a Jamestown penalty for what turned out to be the winning goal for Mandan (5-7-0-1, 4-7-0-1 League).
Later in the third period, the Blue Jays (4-7-0-1, 4-7-0-0) had two power plays, but couldn’t score and a bid for a second straight win fell short.
Izzy Maddock put Jamestown in front with her fifth goal of the season, assisted by Grace Allmaras, at 7:58 of the first period.
Khloe Schmidt tied the game for Mandan just over seven minutes into the second period.
Ady Bakalar made 33 saves in net for the Blue Jays, who were outshot 35-11, but seven of the JHS shots came in the third period.
Jamestown will play in Bismarck Saturday against Century.
