Still Around. Larger walleyes are in the mix with strong action for eater-sized fish on the Missouri River as the back half of May comes to be. DEO Photo by Mike Peluso.

You know I’m getting busy when I can’t remember what day it is to write a fishing report. So I apologize for this one getting out late this week.
Fishing for walleyes on the Missouri River near Bismarck is absolutely fantastic right now! If you have kids now is the time to get them out there. Lots of activity on pretty much every sandbar with a little reduced current.
Jigs and minnows both drug downstream and pitching are producing plenty of those perfect eater sized walleyes. If you are looking for a big fish, those are still around also. Pulling cranks or pitching plastics seem to be taking those bigger sized walleyes.
It’s hard to believe this will be my last river report for awhile. I head to Devils Lake for about a month before heading to Sakakawea for my summer guiding sessions. I will be doing reports for both Devils and Sakakawea until the end of September.
I do have a couple open dates for Devils Lake coming up if you’re interested and a few scattered dates for Sakakawea as well. Get ahold of me to go fishing!
