Kan. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jimmies took advantage of six Doane errors to win the opener of NAIA Opening Round tournament in Hutchinson, Kansas. Jamestown moves to the semi-finals with a 6-2 win and will play Tabor at 12:30pm on Tuesday.

Doane starter Elliot Engle came into the game with an ERA of 0.61 and certainly didn’t disappoint, but didn’t get much help from his friends. The Jimmies took a 1-0 lead after an error on the shortstop allowed Erik Peterson to score from third, who also reached on an error.

Two more came in the third inning following a pair of errors when Landon Uetz and Paul Sitkowski hit line drives through the hole between third and short.

The Tigers finally chased Jason Shaw in the fifth with two outs after they trimmed the lead to 3-2. Ryan Sheeley came on in relief and was lights out again. He got Doane catcher Liam Bedford to line out to leave two runners stranded, and after that only allowed one more runner to reach third.

The win is Jamestown’s 36th of the year and moves them into the semifinals where they will play Tabor, the Bluejays defeated Viterbo 3-2. The game time tomorrow is 12:30pm and will be broadcast on 1400/97.1 KQDJ and NewsDakota.com.
