early morning storm knocked down trees, power lines and damaged some homes in Valley City. Major tree damage reported on the Valley City State University campus.

A tornado siren sound around 3:30am Friday morning and some people said the wind sounded like a train moving through the northwest corner of the city.

Trees were on top of cars and homes about an 1.5 inches of rain fell in a short period of time flooding streets in Valley City.

Power was restored to most of the city by about 5:45am Friday but many rural Barnes County residents may still be without power along with some scattered homes in Valley City this morning.

So far no injuries have been reported in Valley City.
